Classic, Modern Day Yankee Craftsmanship

New England was historically revered as an industrious area that produced quality, reliable goods that lasted the test of time. While Connecticut is now commonly known as the ‘Insurance Capital of the World’, there was a time not so long ago where high quality artisan goods were being produced in nearly every major town in the Connecticut River Valley.

Notably, the style of furniture making in the Northeast was crafted most famously by the Shakers - a group whose influence is still present in the aesthetic of the area that surrounds us today. The Shakers, while known for producing a wide variety of goods, are most famously known for their furniture that influences more contemporary designs seen commonly today.

Shaker style furniture was distinct in that it often utilized multiple types of local hardwoods, and typically avoided overly ornamented or veneered pieces in return for durable, beautiful products that would stand the test of time. Their goal in their labor was nothing less than perfection, and the results of applying their values to their work leads to their enduring legacy we see today.

At Connecticut Yankee Crafts, we strive to match the quality of the legacy seen before us in the area and continue to do what the Shakers did best - creating high quality furniture made with the values of our forefathers before us.

We have immense pride in the quality of our work and are confident that we will craft the finest furnishings for your home. Let us know how we can help and we’ll get to work on the cabinets or furniture of your dreams.
